Recognizing the power of youth sports to change lives, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Detroit (BGCGD) created 3C Sports to bring healthy community, culture, and competition back to youth sports. 3C Sports goes beyond the traditional concept of sports to engage youth meaningfully, instill critical life skills, and provide opportunities for personal development. The program aims to create a powerful ecosystem that fosters equity and quality in youth sports.
3C Sports was built to afford youth all the benefits of organized youth sports. These include not only physical health but also positive impacts on mental health, such as reduced anxiety and depression, improved self-esteem, cognitive performance, creativity, and social skills.

The program invests in top-tier facilities and coaches, brings in professional coaches and former pro players, and integrates body conditioning and healthy habits. But that is just part of the picture. Their commitment to high-quality programming goes deeper and broader to touch on many aspects of positive development, from foundational needs to envisioning future paths.
For example:
Youth have access to various sports throughout the year, providing them with options to try different skills, beyond a single sport.
Programming is offered equally to both boys and girls, emphasizing the values of fairness and inclusivity.
Staff receive comprehensive safety training, as well as professional development on best practices for engaging youth and supporting their positive development.
